The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries held a swap meet before the Community Cabinet, at Belmont State School oval on Sunday 14 September. Local residents were encouraged to bring a weed and swap it for a free native plant.

Belmont State School’s Wilson Lam performs the national anthem at the Community Cabinet forum, as the School’s Vivaldi Orchestra sings along. The Vivaldi Orchestra, conducted by Mary MacDonald-Raymond, later performed for the Premier, ministers and guests.

Members of the Seniors Sector Roundtable, made up of eight Queensland seniors organisations, discussed their concerns with the Premier and several ministers during the Community Cabinet.

Kerry Greensill (left) with Minister for Emergency Services Neil Roberts at the Community Cabinet luncheon. Kerry retired in September 2008, after a Queensland public service career spanning 50 years. He spent the past 16 years advising parents and installing baby capsules for the Queensland Ambulance Service’s baby capsule hire service.

Premier Anna Bligh and Minister for Disability Services Lindy Nelson-Carr visited the Stepping Stones Clubhouse in Coorparoo after the Community Cabinet. Casey (left) gave the Premier and Minister Nelson-Carr a tour of the facilities. Adults with a mental illness can attend the clubhouse, where they are offered support to rebuild various aspects of their lives.
