Premier's disaster relief appeals

The Premier's disaster relief appeals help communities affected by major disasters such as flooding, severe storms and fires.

South-west Queensland floods

In response to widespread flooding in south-west Queensland, the Premier has launched a disaster relief appeal. In particular, the Murweh Shire Council, Maranoa Regional Council and Balonne Shire Council where a disaster situation has been declared.

The Queensland Government has made a $500,000 contribution to start the appeal.

South Pacific (Samoa and Tonga) Tsunami and the Earthquake in the Indonesian Archipelago

On 1 October 2009, the Premier launched the disaster relief appeal for Samoa, Tonga and Sumatra.

The Queensland Government made a contribution of $500,000 to start the appeal.

North/North West Queensland floods

During January and February 2009 damaging floods affected the northern regions of Queensland.

Disaster relief appeal donations were accepted until 31 July 2009. Applications for assistance for the North/North West Queensland floods closed on 30 April 2009.

The Australian Red Cross administered the donated funds on behalf of the Queensland Government. For enquiries contact the Australia Red Cross (non-government site) on freecall 1800 733 111.
