Assistance to Haiti

On 12 January, a devastating earthquake hit poverty stricken Haiti, near the country’s capital Port-au-Prince. International aid is now streaming into the country but more is needed.

Premier Anna Bligh has announced that the Queensland Government will donate $500,000 to the Red Cross’ Haiti Earthquake Appeal. The funding will go towards:

Aid agencies are appealing for donations to assist them in delivering clean water, food, medical supplies and temporary housing to Haiti.
